Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership, in association with Orienteering Ireland and South East Viking Orienteering Club (SEVO), are working to develop Orienteering and Virtual Orienteering across Kilkenny. We have developed permanent courses and mapped many new urban areas for use with MapRun.
Check out https://www.sevorienteering.com/maprun-permanent-courses
Or https://www.orienteering.ie/maprun/
Our aim is that schools, community groups, families and individuals will try out this exciting, inclusive sport. We encourage you to use MapRun to navigate these courses.
MapRun (version 7) is an IOS/Android Virtual Orienteering app that provides GPS punching and timing for orienteering courses.
There are a number of virtual orienteering courses in County Kilkenny that can be used by the public on any day or at any time. Note that the Kilkenny Castle courses can only be completed when the castle grounds are open. Check here.
There are no controls to be put out and results are uploaded automatically. All you need is a smart phone with the MapRun App installed and a printout of the orienteering course map you are completing.
There are currently five MapRun courses in County Kilkenny
Click on the links below to download the course maps:

In addition, there are three permanent orienteering course (POC) locations suitable for less experienced and younger persons at:
Kilkenny Castle: Kilkenny Castle Park Trails
Woodstock Gardens: Woodstock Park Trails
Castlecomer Discovery Park: Castlecomer Discovery Park Park Trails
