Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership is delighted to announce that we have fully adopted Sport Ireland’s Governance Code for Sport. We have submitted a public statement of compliance with the Governance Code for Sport and this can be viewed on the Sport Ireland website here.
The Sport Ireland, Governance Code for Sport builds on the work of the Code of Practice for Good Governance of Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations in Ireland.
The Government’s National Sports Policy, published in July 2018, tasks Sport Ireland with overseeing a process whereby all National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) adopt the Code by the end of 2021.
The Code of Practice for Good Governance of Community, Voluntary and Charitable (CVC) Organisations in Ireland was a voluntary code provided free to all boards/committees/executives of not-for-profit groups to encourage them to check themselves against best practice.
In 2019, Sport Ireland took over the Governance Code for Community, Voluntary and Charitable Organisations as a Governance Code for Sport and put supports in place to assist LSPs/NGBs and other funded bodies on this journey to compliance.
The KRSP Board has worked hard in recent years to implement the Governance Code for Sport. To this effect, a public statement of compliance with the Governance Code for Sport was submitted to Sport Ireland in December 2021. The KRSP Board is committed to ongoing compliance with Sport Ireland governance requirements.
